I think my chickens have lice!!

I'd just like to mention that Seven (Sevin?) dust is not available in some countries that are represented on this forum, such as... Canada. I tried to buy some not long ago and was told it was part of the ban.

I found a post on here that suggested putting the powder in a plastic bag, adding the chicken, gather the bag up around the neck of the bird (make sure you keep the powder out of the bird's face), and then do a "Shake & Bake" kind of action.

It works awesome but the bags tear from the chickens claws. So I usually use an old cat litter box to catch the powder that begins to spill from the tears. I also keep plenty of extra bags handy (I double bag the plastic grocery sacks from the grocery store).

You can try just filling a box or with the powder and using your hands to toss the powder up under the feathers but the "Shake & Bake" method works so much better.

A WORD OF CAUTION: I use safety glasses & a dust mask or particle mask to keep from breathing it in myself. If the birds start flapping their wings while you are trying to let them loose, you WILL BE COVERED in powder!

HAVE FUN! I have to do my birds once a month now since I had a horrible outbreak that went unnoticed earlier this year.
