I have been feeding my chicks, 9 silkies and one bantam cochin (I think that's what she is) that are 4 weeks old, yogurt everyday to tame them a little more.

This morning I went down to check on them and one of them kept chirping and chirping that unhappy chirp they do when there's something wrong. I didn't see anything wrong with it.. Nothing was wrong. They had feed, water, everything. I waited an hour or so.. still unhappy chirping. That's when I decided to break out the yogurt. I fed them some yogurt. Went upstairs. Chirping stopped.. All I heard was happy chirping. And still now all I hear is happy chirping.

I thought that was funny and I thought you guys might too.

Any of your chickens addicted to any treats? I wonder if they'll do this tomorrow too.

Little spoiled fluffballs!

Mine love yogurt, but since we live a "bit away" from a grocery store, I decided that we couldn't have a favorite treat

I don't think I could take the fussing if I ran out.

Mine do love corn on the cob, cleaning the scraps from cantelope, leaf lettuce (still damp from rinsing). I try to give them something new & different every few days.

Cute!
My chickens know that the figs are getting ripe and they follow me around under the tree, waiting for me to drop them some figs. I will admit to having climbed the tree to get to the ripe ones. Not easy to do since fig trees aren't all that sturdy.

Yeah.. oh gosh... what happens when I run out? ... the yogurt expires August 4th.
LOL I'm in trouble if I can't find it anymore. I better switch treats every now and then.

I should try some cantelope! I love that stuff, I will give them some next time we have some. Ooh and corn on the cob that's a good idea. Thanks for the ideas.

That's cool. I think tomorrow I'll try and feed them a little fruit or lettuce or something. My hamster used to love eating lettuce. It was his favorite.

I think I'll go pick up some mealworms when I'm in town also. I heard chickens love those!

Mine love yogurt too.

I dice some a little bread and coat it with plain yogurt, toss it out, and they go nuts over it. I'm going to try watermelon next.

cool didnt know that they liked yoghurt!! might try that dipping bread in yog as wer going shopping 2mora! will they eat it in a pot on their own or do you think it would be too messy! would they look like abominable yoghurt monsters covered in it?

When we had our roosters anytime they heard us outside they would do a kind of squack growl at us to get our attention. They always did this when they wanted treats. They would sit there and keep going on and on until we brought them anything. It didn't matter what it was they just wanted something special.

Our hens didn't care just those spoiled roos.

I was nursing an injured roo back to health (he didn't make it) and kept fixing him special soft foods, yogurt, hard boiled egg yolk, baby cereal & fruit, etc. (about 2/3 of his beak was gone). The hens enjoyed this also, and now they run up to me thinking I'm bringing more goodies. Guess I'd better get into the treat-a-day habit.
