I have a few geese mixed males and females. They all have pairs and the males try to mate with this one female but she has a mate. The mate is a female. So my same sex pair started nesting almost 2 weeks ago. But she would just go in, lay the egg, bury it, and not return until the next day to lay another. Now I know she won't sit on it until she has a good enough clutch. But I went out after I noticed she stopped going there all together. There are 9 eggs and she hasn't been to the nest in 2 days! I brought the eggs in because they were getting cold and rats had taken out the 10th egg so I didn't want to just let them die. What should I do because another female goes in every morning and lays me an egg. Should I close off that area? I feel guilty taking the eggs so what should I do with the nest. The nest is located in a spare stall in my barn.

Eat those eggs, since incubation has not started on them. If you want more geese, then slip them into an electric incubator. If you block off the nest, then your other goose will just find another place to lay. You may not find that place soon enough, or rats will get to first. :idunno
