one of the little bantys i got on monday is on her way out i am afraid. I knew the two had something wrong and i felt bad for them and bought them at an auction. they were both droopy and emaciated. nothing is working for the smallest. I just got the baby parrot food today and tried that also. Tonight she is falling over. she has been a little fighter but she is skin and bones. I don't think she will be with us tomorrow. I want to thank everyone who has helped me on this one especially threehorses. It is still very upsetting especially because i really can't point to any thing other than the emaciation. Poop looks normal no sign of a cold , wants to sleep all the time. Maybe the heat got to her . they had no water at the auction and it was 90. hopefully the other one may make it as it is eating better . Again thanks donna

I'm so sorry you have had such issues with your little ones. It was so kind of you to try to give them a good life. Sometimes there is no known reason for one not making it; I believe it is just called "failure to thrive". I'm sure that little one thanks you for fighting for it, and doing all you can.

Please, please, please keep them quarantined from any other birds and make sure you care for them after you have cared for any other birds. Then, wash your hands thoroughly.

I know you were getting them out of the goodness of your heart, but if they do not appear in general good health, don't purchase them. You have to protect the health of your other birds. If they get something that is contagious, it may mean putting all of the birds down. If you need proof, ask PurpleChicken.

Now, if they are still alive, I would suggest giving them sugar water and/or pedialyte to restore some of their energy and electrolytes. After they get a good dose of water, you may want to try worming them. Check them over really well for mites or any other symptoms, such as crusty nostrils, wheezing, or coughing. Any symptoms you can list would be extremely helpful.

From the day i got them which was monday they were droopy and sleepy. I have been giving them medicated chick starter, nutra drench and electrolytes then today i got the baby parrot food and used a syringe to feed the one that is the worse. They are thin droopy and sleep a lot. they wake up once in a while and the one will eat fairly well the other one doesn't do much but peck at it a little . The poop is normal. No signs of a cold congestion. A little pale. I can't figure it out. Any other ideas please let me know. I have kept them away from my others. I have them in a cage up off of the grown. Thanks so much donna
