So yesterday i added my 5th pygmy doe she is 1 year old and the reason i picked her is because the breeder (the guy i get all my pygmies from) said he is almost 100% positive she is pregnant i also think she is her belly is pretty big and her milk sac seems to be getting large does it sound like she is preggo? also some tips on helping doe birth and this will be her first kidding btw

congrats on the goat!

What an exciting and nerve racking experience it is to do the pregnancy and delivery dance with a goat. But in the end it is all worth it!

I also have a pygmy goat that is pregnant mine is due to deliver on the 27th of August so we are counting down.

if this is her first pregnancy and she has a milk bag then yes she is pregnant!

and she could be pretty close.
see if you can feel the kids moving by placing your hands under her belly right in front of her udders push up just a little.
pay more attention to the right side then the left as her rumen is on the left and you could feel movement over there not realizing it is just he rumen.

if you feel movement on the right side we are most likely at least 3 months along.

the next important test you will need to learn is to feel and recognize the tail ligaments these are located right off her spine right by her tail they are in a v shape and will feel like pencils these ligaments will soften and eventually disappear completely once they are gone you have kids coming within 12 hours my experience is once they are gone dont go any where you will have a birth within the next 5 hrs. its very hard to explain the ligament without pictures so go searching on the web for goat pregnancy and how to tell if your goat is in labor this will show you exactly how to feel for these ligaments.

I would love to chat with you and share in this excitement with you as the day approches please feel free to email me.
we can share pics and stories and I will try to guide you the best I can.

Good luck
Julie
