I think my Pullet might be egg bound - Help!

I have an 18 week old Pullet who’s been acting strange over the past few days- laying down, squatting, standing still, not running around. She hasn’t been eating, but drinking a lot of water. I first suspected sour crop because her crop was soft, but I now believe that she may be just drinking a lot of water, which could cause a softer crop as well. Her crop was empty this morning, so I’ve almost ruled out sour crop completely. I’ve given some garlic water this morning, and scrambled eggs this evening, as she still hasn’t been eating her feed. I now feel a large round lump beneath/behind her vent. It seems to be egg shaped, and I’ve never noticed it before. She’s never laid an egg before. Could she be egg bound?

She could be. If she is drinking, give her some Sav-a-Chick in the water, it has vitamins and electrolytes. She ate the scrambled egg? Is she pooping? Does she go in the nest box, or back up to a wall with her tail straight up the wall?

Heat can bring on the problems that lead to egg-binding. Electrolytes in the water can prevent it, but not fix it when it happens. You can crush up a tums and get some calcium into her ASAP that way. Don't force feed, but put it in some tuna or a scrambled egg, which she is still eating.
