This is probably the 5th time I’ve ordered from MMM. I’ve always ordered all females....and declined the extra free bird; but free bird was in my box this time.

I ordered EEs, WL, and Whiting True Blues. I didn’t ask them to mark them b/c I figured I could tell which breed was which. Not the case. The Leghorns are obvious but the others not so much.

Then this morning, my husband says he heard something he thought was a crowing like noise coming from the nursery coop. He said it happened intermittently for five min or so.... early right before 7am.

I’m suspicious it’s the black/white one in the pic I’m attaching. It could possibly be an EE, I guess but this black/white one already has a red com and waddles. They are 8w4d old.

Appreciate any input.... and if you have thoughts as to what kind of chicken this is... it could be a Whiting but it could be the random mystery chick. I’ve never had Whitings in my flock before..

Definitely a cockerel-the comb is too big and too red to be a hen. Also his stance is too “proud”, my hens didn’t start walking around with enough tail feathers to do it until 15 weeks old.

Here is the one other one I’m suspicious of... and honestly I don’t know if this is an EE or a Whiting. So I’m thinking either the black/white one or this one could be the one my hubby heard this morning. Also, the one in this pic isn’t peeping like the others... instead it makes a different noise... not high pitched like the peeping.

It’s 8w4d old too.

I agree that the first bird looks like a Lakenvelder, and a probable cockerel.

The second bird is a pullet; she has a female-specific plumage pattern. No idea what she is, but she's pretty.

Thank y’all for your input! I appreciate the help. We will keep our ears and eyes on that black/white one. I honestly wouldn’t mind having a Roo; though my hubby might not agree.
