I bought this girl (I think she is) last month and now she's crowing. I've heard some hens can mock a rooster, but now I'm not sure because she's getting better at it. Haha she also does the little wing dance around my hens that my other roosters do. I already have 5 roosters and very sad to have another one. The girl I bought Juniper from said she was an Easter Chicken mixed. I don't even know the mix. What do u like roo or hen?

X2 Beautiful roo.
There are thin, long, pointy saddle feathers that flop down, right in front of the tail (only roos get these.). Also, I believe I had read somewhere that EE roos get red feathers on the wings. Sorry... but he is handsome.

Hi From Jacksonville.

If you look at the longer feathers around the neck (those are the ones they raise up like a lions mane when fighting) and the long feathers just above the tail on the back that kind of spill over are saddle feathers. Those are rooster feathering. He is gorgeous! The crowing and dancing around are also rooster traits and I bet his comb and wattles were more red than the other pullets earlier.

He is a beautiful chicken.

Glad you joined us.

Thanks everyone. You all have been very helpful! I've only had chickens for 3 years and learning so much about all the different breeds! I guess he'll be getting a new name besides Juniper lol Another question though what do u think he's mixed with besides EE?
