This is Peeps, my little Friesian banty hen. She's such a character! Very independant little miss. She's spunky, full of confidence and knows what she wants. Every day at about 11am she screams at the door, demanding to be let in so she can lay her egg in the cat's basket! Apparently the nest boxes simply aren't good enough for her and for a while she laid under a bush until I destroyed her little bush-nest in an attempt to get her to lay where the rest do! She wasn't having any of that. We often leave the back door open so one day she came in and got inside the cat basket and found it to her liking!

I imagine the day she comes in and finds her 'nest' already occupied is going to be a bit awkward!

Knowing her, she'd prolly try to get inside even with the cat in it...

Aaaw that is so cute .. good on her, there is a girl who knows what she wants! Banties may be small in stature but they sure do make up for it in personality. Having two cats, I am also interested to know what happens if their schedules conflict .. keep us posted please

They really do! I <3 my banty flock! I'll keep you posted. Usually 'Spaghetti-O', my handsome feline friend (my picture) is off doing whatever cats disappear and do at that time but there'll be a clash over that basket at some point no doubt! He's a nice cat though so I wouldn't expect any fur or feathers to fly!

Spaghetti-O has a black moustache? This is Chimee, she has a milk moustache ... sadly, if she got a hold of one of my 2 banties, she would not be as kind...
