And then I decided to raise chickens....

Just saying...

I had the same problem.

What I did to fix the problem? Extend their run further into the yard for more elbow room, then, to replace the grass that they would be missing while cooped up all day, I take the fresh grass clippings from the lawnmower and toss it into the coop. The girls thoroughly enjoyed quickly ripping it apart until it was no more! Make sure though, that if you plan on doing the same, that you don't let the grass sit too long in the bag before giving it to them. It spoils pretty quickly. Now, they don't tear my Petunias into pieces anymore, and I can have my vegetable garden grow higher than three inches!

My Friend is round up! No I can not feed anything to my chicks but the weeding is easy! Also I use ALOT of cypress much! It is the wonder mulch! Really it is. It is kind of light colored in the beginning but it darkens up and really makes the plants pop!

I have nothing left to round up! I have a front yard fenced in with picket fence which is now their free time area. Most of the established plants (but no ground covers!) survived but they have completely eliminated weeds! Gotta love that!

Ya'all must not have wire grass! I have wire grass in the run and they like the new shoots but it really takes over the run! I have 31 chickens and they all eat on a 75'X 150' open run and the grass is good. I do feed garden waste ie....Big cuks and big squach. But I'm going have to try the zuccini candy recipe!

Nope, I won't give up my gardens. Mine stay in a large run. Besides, my neighbors wouldn't be too happy to find them in THEIR back yards, lol. They'd fly over the fence just because they could. I'll post a seperate thread with pictures of my gardens.
