My life is currently at the point where I am on the verge of moving out of my parent's house in the next few years after I graduate college and start working in the "real" world. Lately, I just can't get my mind off of having my own dog! We have a dog at home, but I have never had my own dog. I will have to wait until I move out of my house and figure out what type of lifestyle I will have and THEN I will finally be able to get my own dog. But that hasn't kept me from fantasizing about what kind I would like!

My dream dog is a Great Dane, but I doubt I will have the money to buy one right out of college. I will most likely end up adopting a dog from the shelter. I would love to have something medium to large in size that looks a bit intimidating, but is just a big old love bug. I can't wait to have my very own buddy to take hiking with me, on car rides, walks, etc.!

So what kinds of dogs do you fantasize about having?

I have 4 dogs getting up in age, they are actually dh's and labs. I love the labs but what i really want is a blood hound, dh thinks I'm nuts but eversince I was little and saw lady and the tramp I wanted a trusty of my own.

I fantasize about having a kennel where I can keep about 20 dogs and have a working team to do snow and dryland mushing.

I have 4 dogs stop by and take your pick

When you become established... go to pet finder, there are alot of rescue danes, dane/mixes etc that need a home. What kind of dogs are you drawn too? (other than big ones!

Big dogs tend to cost alot more and not live as long (unfortunatly).

My dog choices would also include a dane some day!
Plus more Cane Corsos
Then maybe when I get too old (I'm talking 90ish) a french bulldog or a Boston Terrier

I love my chow cross and my dachshunds, but my DREAM dogs are either a Cane Corso or a Fila Brasiliero.

I also love those big goofy dobermans too! I love rotties too, but I would have to research them a bit more. I'm not such a fan of doggie drool, which unfortunately rules out a few very beautiful dogs. I think mastiffs are gorgeous, but some of the ones I worked with while at the vets drooled like none other! I also looove golden retrievers. We had one when I was little and I think they are beautiful dogs. Unfortunately it seems like they have so many health issues! Ours had to be put down at 6 due to cancer. A retriever mix would be very nice! I also wouldn't rule out standard poodles. I know I could have lots of fun grooming and making funky hairdos. German shepherds are also beautiful, but I'm afraid the hair would just be too much. I really like their personalities though.

What I really want is a dog with a deeper bark that people would be more inclined to respect, but I don't by any means want a nasty dog. I will most likely be living alone when I first move out, and having a dog like this will certainly help me feel more comfortable!
