Hi All, I'm really into different coloured eggs, hatched some Araucana eggs just so that I could get the blue shelled eggs. Live in suburbia at the moment so can't really start my project till I move to my 5 acre plot but want to get hens that lay all different coloured eggs and start breeding so that I can get a real pink egg.
Is there anyone out there that is like me or has had experience at breeding for pink eggs.... Up all last night reading the threads for the purple egg.
Any suggestions or ideas are welcome and look forward to hearing from you :-)

Many hens will lay all shades of tan and brown, some of which will look pink when they are mixed with other eggs. I have australorps, BO's, BR's, New Hamps, and other breeds, and none of the same breed will lay the same color. You will get variation in the same breed. If I wanted different colors, I would just get various breeds.

Thanks, I plan to get different breeds once I move, it's so tempting to go ahead and get them now but I just don't have the room at the moment and I think I've already got more than I'm supposed to have.

I have both lavender and blue wheaten ameraucana and Easter eggers, and I get all shades of light blue and green, but it would be boring without the pinks, browns, and chocolate browns for variety. Be careful not to get more than you can care for because it is an addiction LOL.

Yes, I'm beginning to realize that! Just been outside with a couple of my younger chicks, I'm trying to get them to trust me. They'r 11 weeks old, they come near me now but are still wary if I make what they think is a sudden move. Got the rooster to eat out of my hand yesterday and today though, I love the noise they make when they're eating.
Are those eggs in your profile picture your own? They're very colourful :-)
