I want to raise more chickens but none of my hens have ever gone broody. Can I choose one of mine to make it go broody?

As has been said - none of your breeds are broody. I did one time have success with encouraging broodiness in mine. I hung up curtains around the nest box area and stacked them with eggs. I had a broody ( first time ever) within 2 weeks! May have been coincidence ?

Where do you live? I suggest you get a broody breed. I have some that go broody every month all summer. I would check out local sources, Craigslist, poultry swaps….

I tried hard last year, with a known broody hen. I wanted her to go broody on my terms because I had chicks coming... No it didn't work.

4 weeks later - she went broody.

Isn’t that typical?! I’m in your situation now. She’s a broody type and had a clutch last year. I want some now. I’ve left fake eggs and a real. Keeps laying well in that spot but hasn’t been persuaded yet. I’ve done everything but I might make it darker…
