I'd love to see your EE roos and am curious to know if any throw mostly gold brown hens.

At any rate, gold or silver based or anything else, it'd be nice to see the roos!

In the future I'd like another EE flock and will be aiming for EEs which lay blue eggs and look wild type or partridge with that nice bright gold or gold/orange on the front of the hens and brown to black patterning on the rest of their bodies. Like wild type or partridge patterning. I think I have the egg part figured out, but am not sure about breeding for feather color. It's been suggested to look for a "golden duckwing" type roo, but I'm not sure what they look like in EEs.

Also, if anyone has bred them for the same gold brown colors in hens I'd love to get your feedback!

I have a Solid Red with a Black Ring around his neck hackles. He's Partridge Based, I believe with the Columbian Gene, if not Dark Brown/Black Tail.

He's the one named Pheasant. I think it'll be tricky to produce a pure Duckwing EE.

Thanks MC! Handsome boys. I especially like Pheasant. Does he throw the gold hens like one he's next to?

Yeah, I think so having looked at random EE roos online. No matter, I may find out here what types produce gold-er hens. I found on another thread someone mentioning they thought all or almost all EE carry the Columbian gene. Even just staying away from mostly black or silver would be at least close I think.

You're welcome.
Thanks.

I haven't bred him yet, that's one of his hatch mates, but I'll be doing an experimental breeding with him this year.

It could be true with some, mostly with those that show it. The Columbian gene shows with one, or two copies.

I am also curious about EE coloring. My two EE hens fit the color description you gave. I’ve now got a chick from each of them. One is chipmunk pattern and the other appears to be mostly black. We shall see how they feather out.

He is beautiful! Three of my babies are BO eggs with a EE roo daddy. Do you have any pics of him as a baby?
Yes I do! The whitest looking chicks are Edward and his 2 brothers, and he had two Buff sisters as well. Here is a single pic of him too.If your EE rooster is Silver your babies will be sex-links like mine were!the boys would be light gold/white and girls Buff.
