i just got banned from two reef forums... i says it how i see's it... and i don't let anyone talk me down... and i never hold back...






but i really like it here... everyone is always so nice to eachother... there's respect, honesty, and a good atmosphere... i wish there were shows and chicken stocks in my area...

I like to think of the "Incubating and Hatching Eggs" section of BYC as the nursery. Everyone is always happier here, cheerful, helpful, full of hope, because we all have babies

or are going to have babies. I really like coming here too.

But it isn't really the case if you go to the "Breeds, Genetics and Showing" section. I lurk in there a lot, and I have witnessed some really hurtful behavior, there is demeaning, slamming, flaming, bullying, even some racism, and insinuating behavior going on there, it can even get quite vicious. Very sad. I think when people show off their birds, there is nothing wrong with that, and people encouraging one another. But unfortunately, we are human, and there is jealousy, pride, and the evil EGO. That makes humans do ugly things to one another. I feel pretty sad about that.

But, then I come back here to "Incubating and Hatching" before I go offline, and it makes me happy again. Way to go fellow hatchaholics!!

I've noticed the same thing too... I've been on this site for almost two years and I can only remember TWO people who caused problems.. They were both VERY young (around 11 or 12?).. One thought they know everything, wouldn't take ANY advice from us even when that's what they were looking for and just ticked a BUNCH of us off to the point we were all sending messages to the moderators!! The other was about the same age and not really a "problem" but, ANNOYING!!!!! I know one of them is still on this site but has calmed down TREMENDOUSLY and has actually LEARNED from us... The other, have not seen any posting in a loooong time so I honestly don't know...

Sorry or using "they" but don't want to hurt anyone's feelings... I try to stick to this section and lurk over into the illnesses and diseases section to help out whenever I can.. I stay out of the rest of the sections for the most part so I don't know what goes on in them..

I absolutely LOVE this site and tell ANYONE I meet who has chickens or is even THINKING about chickens about it and try to get them to join... We are a family here and I enjoy that.. We aren't shunned away because of stereotypes, looks, weight, color, or even language barriers (providing the poster shows even the slightest bit of "intelligence" (not the best word but hope you know what I mean! lol) when trying to speak english... During my first hatch, there was a gentleman from Indonesia who did not speak English very well and kept apologizing for it but we all knew what he was trying to say and were all very supportive of him... Not one single person put him down or belittled him because his English was not perfect! It was nice to see that kind of support on a site with thousands of people!
