I was surrounded

Made some bacon for the burgers last night and went to dump the crease over the fence (the bacon crease thing was pretty full and the top screen part is MIA). I was instantly surrounded...I've only given them eggs straight from the pan one time. It's hard enough to walk around chickens that think there's a treat involved, much harder when you're carrying a pan of hot grease. That was a long baby step walk to the fence.

I think the trip you are describing is known as "the chicken dance" here -- that effort to move a human while not injuring said person OR any of the poultry.

Thank goodness no one -- you or them -- got greased!

Mine gather at the back door and peer through the glass because they know that yummy grapes are somewhere inside the building.

Last week, the plumber and his assistant were leaving the house when a flock of hungry hens appeared at the door, staring longingly at them and blocking their departure. Everyone had a good laugh and the girls got a bunch of grapes to reward their bad behavior.
