My wife went out to put the chickens to bed (still trying to "teach" them to go on the roost) and she came back in the house and said we were missing 3 of our 17. We went on a mission around the yard to find them. We looked just about everywhere and I had come to the conclusion that we had a predator coem and steal our chickens away. Then I just happened to look behind the coop (outside the run/pen area) and what do you know roosting there on an old barrel are our three missing chickens. I was glad they were OK and so was my wife. They are getting better about going on the roost. It took a week but night before last there was only one on roost when we went out and last night there were 7 on roost so maybe tonight there will be 12 or maybe all of em. I bought 11 black sex links that are 8 weeks old last week and they are in the little pen and they are all already roosting in the coop there so maybe i won't have the same isssue with them once I get them all together. Just wanted to share.

Thank goodness they were safe !

It just takes a little patience and persistance to get them all to go where they are supposed to at night.

So glad you found them safe and sound. Oh jeesh they really know how to make us worry dont they???

I went out last night and 15 of my 17 "original" chickens were on the roost. I put the last two on roost and am hoping that they will all be on roost tonight when I go to "tuck" them in. I think I have found the place the 3 got out of the other night so mayeb I won't have to go through that again.
