I'm 67 years old, retired but still working on home office basis. However I still have time for some hobbies, though started with a flock of 6 hens 2 years ago in basement of my summer home. Now the flock is around 38 chickens with thirteen mature chickens, seventeen 3.5 months old chicks and eight 2 months old chick.
The coop is in around 1000 sqm fruit garden enough to allow chickens free range.
I designed an automatic coop door for the coop opening at sunrise and closing sunset activated by a astronomical electric relay. I used a car window opener for mechanical system. Thanks to BYC members and members of other site forums worldwide sharing experiences on all matters.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! That's a lovely sized flock you have there, don't they just grow without you realising? Mine certainly did, I only started with 2 laying hybrids and at one point got to 50 birds :D

Your coop door sounds great and a good way of reusing items.

Good luck for the future and enjoy your time here on BYC :frow

Thanks. Sometimes, especially in winter it is very hard to endure bad conditions but I always think if my chickens endure I should do the same.
