i wish someone would have told me!!

If your coop is 4-8' wide then you will probably find that is easier to do a one time move by slipping a piece of plywood under it and sliding it to where you want it. You can drill holes in the leading edge to pass ropes thru to pull on. The plywood won't sink into the dirt(lawn) like a wheel but will still slide over hard surfaces. (A thin leyer of sand will help here) If one sheet of plywood isn't big enough, then use two. After the coop is moved you then have material to start on a second coop....

I WOULD GET A HOLD OF A COUPLE OF DOLLYS AND SLOWLY MOVE IT

WE HAD TO DO THAT WITH THE RUN AND IT MADE IT MOVE A WHOLE LOT EASIER

wheels are risky - there is a good chance they will tend to jam and stick in every little dip and bump in your lawn.

best idea is what seminolewind says -- get 3 or more round fenceposts (like, 5" diameter cedar posts) and use them as rollers. Like you're moving an Easter Island statue, you know? Jack up the back, put roller under, then jack up front, put roller under middle and front of coop, then push coop forward. When it moves off the back roller, run around and stuff that roller under the front of the coop. Keep doing that -- removing rollers from back and relocating to front - til you're where you need to go. Note that you need AT LEAST THREE rollers (fenceposts) for this.

Good luck,

Pat

LOL!!! Agree!!!! We built ours somewhere else and brought it here in pieces..big, heavy pieces that had to go from the truck to the back yard..my 18 year old son called 10 of his football, baseball playing friends and they carried it all back there. Thank goodness for weight training as they were all big, strong boys! So, yes, get some help..alot of it!
