Ideal Poultry EE chick coloring

My 3 Easter Eggers I have now are all from Ideal! I don’t have any chick pics on my phone.

You’re Fluffy is a male, and Pepper too… 😬
I’ve had two EEs from Ideal that were supposed to be females but ended up males. So it does happen.

Your hens are beautiful!

Oh no. I would be really sad if Pepper is a boy. We only have 3 EEs total so that would mean two would have to find new homes.šŸ˜”

Thank you!

Unfortunately with that big comb it probably is. I'm so sorry, and I completely understand. I did an Ideal order a couple years ago, all supposed to pullets, and 2/7 were males. :hugs

I’m so disappointed in my order this time around. Usually the orders from Ideal are amazing, but this time they shipped in an iffy box (really large holes during cold weather). One chick was dead on arrival and now two are likely boys. We will lose 3 out of 8 in our order, which is a big deal for a small flock. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜³ Thanks for letting me know. I’m going to try and rehome these two first and hopefully avoid having to cull them (roosters not allowed). We do have some vacant acreage with cattle on it but I feel like releasing them wild there is probably the same as killing them.😩

I was also suspicious of Pepper's comb but the feather color pattern is female so I don't know about that one. I'm sorry you had some bad luck.

I definitely wouldn't recommend releasing them. It would be cruel since they were hand raised. Culling is actually kinder in that case. Hopefully you can find a home for them.

I'm so sorry you had a worse experience this time. šŸ˜•
Good luck with your boys, I would not dump them but rather cull. I really hate culling but it is the better choice. If you aren't up to it, which I completely understand, you could probably find someone to do it for you. Of course that's if you can't find them homes which I really hope you do!
