Does anyone know when they ship their orders? Do they ship on a certain day like McMurray? What day? Can anyone who has ordered from them let me know how fast they were? Thanks.

Hi Foghorn. I have ordered from them three times. One group arrived dead. The others survived. They mailed mine on wednesday. One time they arrived on saturday the next one on friday. The ones that didn't make it were hatched on tuesday, mailed on wednesday and arrived on friday. Maybe someone from your area will see this and give you a better timeline.

Sorry about your lost. Hey I have discovered another hatchery in the area, if they have what you want, they are super folks. John and Suzzane Heyes, they worked with my schedule. Might give them a try, they quckly response to your emails or phone calls.

I'm hoping my chicks that i ordered for april do better, i ordered from ideal. I think big w ranch ordered from ideal and most of her chicks turned out okay. I plan on buying a few from the feed store just in case.

We got some last week. They shipped on Wed. We picked them up Thur at 7:00am at the post office here in Eustis Fl.
All is well so far.

I've ordered from them 3 times. The first time I ordered was last August, I got 30 chicks, they shipped on a Wednesday, and arrived two days later, and 1 was DOA and about 7 others died within 48 hrs. The second time I ordered 37 chicks last September. They shipped on a Wednesday, and arrived one day later, and only 3 died within 48 hrs. The third time was last week, I ordered 94, they shipped on a Wednesday, arrived two days later, and 4 were DOA. Within 48 hrs I lost 14 more. I ended up with deformed chicks from all three shipments, one Polish with bent middle toes, another Polish with a crossed beck, a Cochin with a foot that curls under, and another cochin with a bent neck that died. If you go to their web site they tell you what days they usually ship on, and when you are ordering you have a chance to pick the date you would like your chicks shipped on. With my last order, they wrote on their order slip in handwriting, "Sorry we were short" but it does not say what they were short of, so I was not happy about that. Plus the quarter box charge is really annoying! I have never ordered from another hatchery to compare to, so that is all I can tell you. How fast they are will depend on how far away from you they are. Also don't expect show quality birds, order extra so you can cull the undesirable ones. I like Ideal because they have a huge selection to choose from, and have cheap prices! Hope this helps.

Foghorn, I have ordered 20-25 chicks from Ideal three times.I have never lost a chick, though two were very cold when I got them on Feb 7 in 37 degree weather. I ordered pullets and Ideal put in 3 extra cockerals for added warmth. I appreciated that. I do live in Texas and got my chicks the day after they shipped.

My husband is mailman and said a large order from MacMurray came through the PO two days ago when weather was 70 here and it sounded like only 2 or 3 were alive. Truth be told, I think a lot depends on how far away from the hatchery you live and what kind of weather they encounter on the way.
