Ideal poultry?

YEEEHAAA! I just got my first egg today!!!!!!!

My 19 week old Sex link(goldneck one) layed it...( i think)
The egg was hidden underneath some straw..
The reason i thought it was my sexlink was because how much larger she is than the rest,and she was acting diffrent that normal.Calmer and when the flock moved she kinda stayed around in my corner.She is usually always stickin in the flock,unlike my other sexlink that gets picked on badly by my reds..my reds are very rude.

The brown egg was very small,not much bigger than a golf ball.When do the eggs start getting bigger?

Congrats! I thought it would be a sexlink. The eggs may start getting larger in a few weeks to a month or so. I have 8 new layers and a carton full of cute little eggs every day. They look especially tiny next to the jumbos laid by my Buff Orpingtons.

I just got to thinking can a hen at this age that just started laying be fertilized by a roo??
Or will it not work out at this age.
If it will work,i think it would hurt the babys having such a small egg.?

Yes! Several of my pullets' first eggs were fertile, however, you should not try to hatch any of the tiny eggs. You really should wait till they are normal size in order to produce normal-sized chicks.

Is it normal for ideal to take 2 weeks before they are gonna ship my birds????

They told me that too, ordered last week. I asked if that was the soonest they could ship them, and they said no they can ship wednesday.

I orderd mine July 3 through the internet.
I got an email saying that the would be shipped July 17 or 18th!! and get here on a 2 day order..

Does anyone know if ideal is known for giving more birds than you pay for??
I orderd around 37 or so... It would be cool if they shipped me 40 or so...lol

Ideal has given me two or three more chicks to the orders for standard fowls but not for bantams, they gave exact number you order.

I ordered one pekin duck and 7 chicks..they arrived today, i was suprised to find two ducks and 8 chicks, the extra chick wasn't a shock but I didn't expect the 2nd duck, really only wanted the one to go with my others. I figured it was in case anything was lost in transport that I still would have the amount i ordered. I was actually hoping for extra roo's for warmth, but didn't get any.
