I was looking around today and was marking out where were putting our new coop.Almost every two weeks,We get pretty wet weather in Central Florida. So i was thinking,Should I raise the floor of the chicken coop about like two feet so that when it does rain,It keeps the coop itself dry,and the chickens can go under the coop for protection?
Please reply(Getting materials for building tomorrow).

First coop was ground level. It rains a bit here in Arkansas so the floor is a muddy mess. Tried building it up but just kept being muddy. Currently have a new one (much much bigger) under construction. It is 2 to 4 feet off the ground. It's hilly around here. I hope it works much better, should be more predator proof also.
Good luck

Keep the floor least a foot above ground, maybe more. If it is too close to the ground, it will encourage rodents to hang out underneath and try to enter the coop. They don't like to be exposed, so keeping it well off the ground will discourage them and keep the floor dry.

I have two coops that are about 16" above ground with 6' walls, and a smaller coop that is 5'x5' with 4' walls that stands on posts 2 1/2' off the ground. I agree, at least have a foot or more to deter rodents and also give the chickens a place to go under in hot weather. I have super-duty fencing all around or have the coop in a run itself to predator proof.
You just have to secure really strongly to posts sunk about 3' into the ground and windblock at least one side if you are in a storm-susceptible area as the wind can go under and lift the coop up and away, or over as was the case with one of my larger coops. Not fun.
