Hiya Friends,

I was hoping to get some ideas on how to entice a hen who's about to go broody to a specific nesting site that is away from my main 8 nest boxes (way to high off the ground.)

I currently have 3 broodies in these set of 8 Nest boxes. However, they have been broody for a while and some are starting to show signs of breaking. (Staying off the nest longer, being out when I first let them out of the coop in the morning- a sure fire way to tell in my coop) but I have one that is about go broody.

I made a "Nursery" of sorts in the large covered area in my coop on ground. I took a large plastic pot that a 6ft tall evergreen tree came in and cut it down the middle, set that on a board of plywood and filled with bedding and a natural fiber nesting bad. I have fencing surrounding along to make a pen of sorts and it will eventuall keep my other hens from pestering her.. Its quiet and secluded. I don't know what a hen could want more. I just need her to take to it-
I am obtaining five new little chicks in the mail on July 7th. And really...really..and I mean R E A L L Y want her to foster them...I'd rather not raise them myself when I have broodies all season long most of the time. (I do have a brooder set up in my Shop just in case anything were to go astray, but raising, introducing to flock yadda yadda. A hen does it best imo)

So, what are some tactics i can implement to seduce her?? Are we talking dead of night do the 'Ol switch-er-oo?? Maybe she'll take to it if she thinks is her nest once moring arrives? Is there an odor' Le hatch scent i can spray? (Just kidding) but seriously I would love ideas on how to get a hen to take to this pop up Nursery i have constructed.

Apologies for the long winded ramblings.

Thank you for your time and ideas,
-Ry.
