So my Cochin developed Wry neck at 3 weeks. She got better by week 6 but is not eatting like she should. Btw she was emaciated when she was sick so we fed her on a feeding schedule. She is VERY picky and won’t eat like normal birds. She seems to only like egg and sometimes her crumble. NOW she doesn’t care for either and feeding is a nightmare. Tonight after dinner her crop was their but not as big as it should be. About like a ping pong ball. She gets a pill of vitamin e and b every day. So what should I do. I need food ideas that will put on weight. I’m thinking making a cake for her but what should I put in it? I need fatty but healthy. I’m trying salmon tomorrow.
The first pic was the first day she was sick at 3 weeks old and second is now at 9 weeks
Thank you

I would continue to try to encourage her to eat chick starter. She needs that nutritionally balanced formula to grow and get the nutrition she needs.

Stop offering anything else but the chick starter for a week and see how she does. Birds can learn to hold out and possibly get something "better".

Get a weight on her now and weigh her a couple of times a week to see if she's making progress. You don't want her to gain too rapidly.

I would also taper off on the vitamins if you've been giving them for 3 weeks and see how that goes as well. Extra vitamin E shouldn't be given long term.

Make certain your feed is in good shape. When a feed is questionable, then not all birds show deficiency signs in the same way, especially where the fat-soluble vitamins are concerned. I would buy a fresh small bag of feed just for that chick. You might be able to increase palatability of the feed by wetting it, but make only in small batches so all consumed that day.

When I have had chicks on recovery phase from heavy coccidia infection and their appetite is not where I think it should be, then I give them some live meal worms and fresh greens like clover from the yard. Those items can be extremely good stimulators of feed intake. Use live meal worms, not the dried version as latter is little more than a protein rich treat.
