still be id'd by color? If so then I *think we have 3 girls and a boy... The "female" chicks are putting out white wing feathers and starting to put plump little fannies out. THe "boy" hasn't started his feathers or fanny bump yet....

Do the different sex chicks develop at different rates?

I'm guessing the three are girls because they are pretty gold to goldrust puffballs with darker spots on the forehead, and the boy is almost white.... But then - I'm trying to "sex" 6 day chicks based on internet sites. DO NOT TYPE "sex link chicks" into google without quotes around it!!!

the results are frightening....

I've typed in black sex links...........I almost fell out of my chair. It's was a good thing no one was around. Try explaining that one.

I cross my Red Star Sex Links with a RIR rooster & No, they are not able to be color sexed reliably. I have had the prettiest red roo with white wing tips & butt feathers you ever seen!!!

They are great birds though. A lot of people say not to breed the hybrids, but I do. I breed them to an egg laying breed of rooster, though. That may be why my hens from these crosses are good layers too.

**Southern** I bet that was a shock!!!

mine were "accidents" - I didn't get the eggs one weekend (thought my son was doing it) and - lo! my little cochins went broody..... Their eggs didn't pan out but they kept stealing the red sex link hens eggs while i was at work and now I have 4 chicks of unknown sex.... LOL!

I guess if they start CROWING I'll know....
