If and when can I expect regular laying

I purchased 4 RIR from a gentleman thinning his flock, was told they were 1-2 years old and good layers. I have had them since July 4 and gotten 6-7 eggs total. Someone told me it may take a while for them to adjust to their new home possibly as long as a few months. is this true? A bit discouraged.

normaly when a chicken starts to lay it wont stop a normal chicken lays an egg a day is it moltting. if so thats why your not getting many eggs

Have noticed some feathers in the enclosure, but not sure what's normal. This is my first flock.

Among other things adjusting to a new home, stress, temperature (as in too hot), disease, malnutrition, and molting are all reasons a chicken will slow egg laying

It took my new hen a couple months to start laying again. Now she lays every other day to every day. she has stopped because of going broody and partial molt then she picked up production again. Don't worry it takes time to adjust. I'm sure she will be laying Again soon.
