We have 12 viable eggs in the incubator on day 20 today. 24 hours ago, the first of them pipped and knocked out a triangle of shell. No other pips. This little one has been cheeping throughout the night, but not making progress.

I should say, we are in favor of assisting, and did so with a few eggs in our last hatch. I think the shrink wrap issue was user error on my part, but it was a real thing. Maybe it's a thing with our incubator?

At any rate... with 11 eggs not pipped, is it safe to open up and try to help this one? I'm concerned if it goes much longer without progress that it won't make it. Should we just wait longer, and if so, what's a good time frame? Thank you!

My 2 cents. Last hatch I had 2 bantam eggs take 30 hours plus to hatch more closer to 2 days. I take a more hands off approach.
Assisting I think is a personal decision. I have assisted.
It is the beginning of your hatch I think I would wait.

Waiting was good. A third egg has pipped now, and fully hatched. She is getting busy snuggling the first to pip and hopefully will jostle it enough to make a difference. It's so stressful watching and waiting!
