I'm a newbie fiction writer writing a zany fantasy story for National Novel Writing Month ... and my main protagonist is a very smart chicken (a Speckled Sussex right now, but I'm open to being convinced otherwise) who's gotta go up against some very mean and angry wizardry. So she needs more than her smarts to have a chance.
