Ill chick

Hello im reaching out for some guidance. I got this baby chick today along with 4 others, the other 4 found the food and water just fine and are doing great. This one on the other hand is just lethargic and has not eaten since I brought them home. About 6-7 hours now. I’ve been carefully using a syringe to get it to drink(with electrolytes) but it just doesn’t seem to be perking up. Is there anything else I can do? This is my first time raising baby chicks if that says anything.. temperature is at a 90-95 with a cool side.. every time I pick it up it does chirp a lot until I set it back down. Any advice appreciated.

Chick has pooped once, electrolytes every 15-30 minutes, since I couldn’t get it to eat grain I tried feeding raw egg yolk but would not budge, vent is clean.

It could just be failure to thrive, unfortunately, it happens.
Drop the temps to 85, with a cool side. 95 is a bit hot.

I thought so.. just hoped there was something I could do. I’m a newbie still learning.. but thank you, I’ll do that.

Start giving it sugar water to perk it up and then try introducing to the feed. If this doesn’t work i think it most likely won’t make it from my personal experience good luck

Tried this and it did perk up but still wouldn’t even try to peck at feed. It didn’t make it through the night. Thanks for your help, though!

Im so sorry to hear that. I’ve had similar situations happen and it’s a bit sad for me. But sounds like you have the other 4 doing well so good luck with your little feather babies

Sorry for your loss. Was the chick from a feed store in your area? Had it been there long? They may replace the chick. I would make sure the others are all drinking and eating and show them where it is. Also check for any pasty butt or stuck on poop.
