Hi There,
A sudden illness has hit my flock but don’t know how it happened as I have been doing all the right things like disinfecting their hut, fresh clean water and feed please help!

After two bantams died from a bird of prey not long ago (one was a cockerel) I think stress from moving them and me being stressed might of set off a respiratory illness going around which has caused symptoms like foamy eyes, swollen eyelids and raspy breathing. I looked it up and got very worried (so any suggestions would really help!) which suggested it was Mycroplasma. The problem is that so many similar diseases have come up meaning I don’t know what they have.

My flock have been very healthy they are Buff Orphingtions not vaccinated as brought up in an incubator at a school so was thinking they are more at risk to it. I have isolated 2 of them so far who looked to have it worse while I left the others as I don’t have a space to have them all.
FYI: I have just brought some new pullets from my local breeder who are vaccinated against it is it likely that they won’t be at a higher risk and aren’t showing any symptoms yet?

I am considering talking to a vet but any suggestions on here would really help to get them back to good health. They are eating, drinking and walking around fine! I am adding crushed garlic from my local feed store to there feed to help and been giving respiratory aid.
Pictures are attached below!

It can be hard to tell without testing, I had a rooster with similar symptoms, after testing came back negative and they shrugged it off as a common cold. But no other bird was infected.
If you want, you can order a test and rule out a handful of things

If you have a vet, they can test for you and have a better diagnosis plan.
For nasal respiratory stuff like this, I rub VetRX on their face, it kind of acts like vics vapor rub.

Talking to a vet would be a great idea. It definitely looks like a respiratory infection.
Also, my chickens were vaccinated for mg and they still got it… I read the vaccine is not effective for more than 6 months, though that could be wrong.
Do u have any antibiotics?

I haven’t got any antibiotics unfortunately! Struggling with what would be the best for a respiratory infection like what my chickens have but maybe talking to a vet for advice would be the best idea :)
Thanks a lot for the help!
