IM A NEW CHICKEN MAMA

Welcome to BYC!
Do you have a run attached to the coop? If not, I would build one. You will need it sooner or later.
If you have one, they can be let out of the coop to roam around in their run. They will go in and out of the coop to explore their surroundings.
Why is it that you think you might need to clip their wings? Are you trying to keep them in an uncovered run? Or from flying over solid fences?

I agree with the above poster. I am not a fan of locking them in the coop, as in the house part, but I have always had an attached run. So mine are still confined when I let them out. I like my chickens outside in fresh air.

So if you have a coop/run. Open the coop so they can go outside during the day. Put a net over the top rather than clipping wings.

If you just have a coop, keep them in, but build a run. Runs are important if you are ever going to be gone for a day or two, if you get hit by predators, and in bad weather.
