Good Morning. I have been toying with the idea of having chickens for a couple of years now....and I think I am ready! I am looking for a bit of feedback on purchasing my coop. I am wanting around 6-8 hens. I live in an upscale subdivision, in a city, that has a "don't ask, don't tell" policy toward chickens. (ie - I had better have something that looks good and civilized or the neighbors can complain to the athorities). I have great neighbors so it shouldn't be an issue. I have been eyeing the Amish built coops at Horizon Structures. They look nice. The mini-coop says it will house 10 birds...but I am not sure about that. The 4X6 says it will house 12-15 but that is more than I think I want. It weighs 650+ pounds and I have to drag it across my 1/2 acre garden to get it to where I want to put it. Can anyone give me some feedback. My friends and family are exhausted by my angst. Thanks a bunch.

About the coop, bigger is usually better. If you dont want 12 to 15 chickens, it would still be nice for however many you did want. Just me but Id probaly go with the 6x4 coop, and have a little extra room, than something smaller and not have enough room.
