I gave up on chickens a couple years ago after getting tired of feeding the local raccoon, hawk and coyote populations. When coyotes came and wiped out half of my girls innocently free ranging in my yard in the middle of the afternoon, I gave the survivors to a new home with a LGD to protect them.
Last summer I moved to a new house in a suburban area (Bellevue, WA). This afternoon, I picked up 8 little chicks. 2 ea: Easter Eggers (sold as Aracaunas), Speckled Sussex, Delawares, and Golden Sexlinks. They are set up in the garage under their heat light. Per Bellevue laws, I can only have 6 and only hens. I got 2 extra in case I have an accidental roo or two. I'll have to make sure that I know someone local who can take an extra Hen if I get busted. Now I'd better get busy building their coop!
I'm so excited to be back! I missed my peeps!
