Hello. I'm back, and in a very different situation. My fiancee and I bought a plot of close to untouched "hunting land" in the mountains, and we have started our homestead. We have so far a duck(khaki/rouen cross barnyard pet. Her daddy was my housepet until I moved to a city that didn't allow ducks so I gave him to my aunt where he got some duck hen friends. Fast forward a few years +incubation time and little Nibbler was hatched), a fabulous black and irradescent mixed breed cock(George was hatched a week before Nibbler from an egg from my aunt's flock), 4 lovely feisty mixed breed pullets we bought from a neighbor through craigslist(Stockings, Darkfoot, Little Dark One, and The Fat One. One recently started laying for us and we had our first breakfast from the farm cooked on a wood stove the other day. <3), 8 incredible standard bronze turkeys("Bad Touch Tom", his hen, and 6 11 week old chicks), 3 adult rabbits and their 6 3 day old kits, and 2 eight week old furture breeder bunnies we bought last week. We also have 5 goats(two are verrrry pregnant), a miniature donkey, 2 boa constrictors, a leopard gecko, a giant african bull frog, 2 chinchillas, a cat, 3 dogs, 7 parakeets, a 17 year old grumpypants adorable cockatiel, 6 rats, and thousands upon thousands of various different kinds of arthropods, gastropods, arachnids, and all other manner of lovely little things that give people nightmares. Lol.

As you can tell, I am still pretty odd.

Today we are also picking up 11 adult coturnix quail, a dozen hatching eggs, and a pekin/khaki cross drake to make Nibbs a happy little hen(she presents herself and just generally makes it clear she wants a boyfriend).

So, hi. Again. I feel like I finally have a real reason to be on this forum instead of just having bedroom quail, chickens, and various other odd small farm type animals while living in the city.

Of all the animals on our farm, I like the birds the best. Or the goats. Honestly that one is too close to call, the goats are great too.

My future husband and I are getting each other gifts from Cackle Hatchery for xmas I believe is the plan. One of the "hatchery suprise" boxes and then some chicks each of us want to be sure we get: I chose geese and picked out the african and the white embden breeds, still waiting to hear what he wants. Looking forward to goslings, but also the surprise box. Anyone ordered from there before?

Sorry for the rambling. Sleep deprived waiting for the goats to kid..

Welcome back!
