I posted earlier in the week that my muched loved Aussie Shepherd had mysteriously gone blind - still working on why - and now the f***ing coyotes have taken advantage and cleaned out my hen house!!

One solitary rooster mournfully came out to greet me this morning stepping carefully over what's left of his girls. Oh, and I was also left one fresh egg. I'm pretty sure it was coyotes as the pen had been attacked from three sides and there was dirt dug up all around it. Even the chain link had been stretched and caved in. There were 2 holes dug underneath and they'd even managed to force the gate open. I had one dead hen apparently uninjured, the remnants of two others and the rest gone.

I'm gutted ... don't even know where to go from here...

At least my young ones are ok - all 8 roosters and 4 pullets.

Oh how horrible! SO sorry! I heard a story about someone out west who puts cyanide in the deer "leftovers" after he butchers deer and he leaves it out for the coyotes to eat.

PNP: SO sorry for your terrible loss and hearbreaking time right now. That's a lot to contend with at one time, and I will keep you in my thoughts.

What a week! Very sorry to hear about your loss. Hang in there & you'll figure out what to do next.

Oh how tragic! I am so sorry you have had to deal with all this...please, keep a watchfull eye on your dog...those coyotes WILL try to attack your beloved dog. All I can think of is Electric wire!! Oh, and trap those suckers!!!

Am soooo sorry for your losses. I know how tragic that is as I'll be sitting outside tonight waiting for the racoon that beheaded one of my 4 week old babies last night. :thun

Luckily I had a baby moniter hooked up and heard the noise and got out there before he finished his first meal. Too late to get a shot but saw him run.

I heard Coyotes (what an eerie sound) but never had any get close enough to the hen house which is only about 25 ft. from my back door. Thank goodness. Sounds like they went beserk in your place. Great that the lone roo survived. Watch your dog. I hear they attack pet dogs too.
