Can someone please explain to me what pipping and zipping are? And how do chicks end up pipping on the wrong side? Please help!

Pipping is where the chick first breaks through the egg and zipping is where it begins to go around the egg, cracking the egg in two so that it can hatch. I believe chicks that hatch on the wrong side is generally caused from having the eggs in the incubator pointy side up, but can not swear to it.

Zipping is when the chick starts to move in a circular motion inside the egg. You will notice the egg shell cracking in a line around the fat end, like unzipping an imaginary zipper. When the chick's circle is complete, he will be able to pop the top and be fully hatched.
