I'm getting Duckies from Ideal!

I'm getting 2 magpie and 8 straight runs!! So excited! I kinda hope they send packing peanuts in a sense.


I can't wait!! Can anyone show me some magpie duckling pictures along with any other duckling photos?

aaawww congrats. I do not have magpies but I have a similar breed, Anconas. Your magpies will be white with black markings.

Here is my crew of 11 from Holderread's at 1 day old. 5 ancona and 6 golden welsh harlequins

This little black and yellow fella is a ancona...each is marked differently but I think magpies are marked the same...not sure about that. That is a chocolate ancona left of him in the pic, I also have what we think is a silver.

even his feet and bill are marked, the two in the bottom of the picture are harlequins

he was not spoiled at all

1 week old...that is a golden welsh harlequin in the middle of the 'pool'

11 days old and the first time in the big pool for supervised play

and 8 weeks old...they grow like lightening!

The first few weeks it will amaze you...they literally change overnight. Each morning they will look bigger and different. It is fun. Enjoy your babies when they arrive.

Cetawin, I get more and more jelious of your Anconas every time I see them!

what is the exact different between Magpie and Ancona ducks, I always thought that Anconas had spots, and Magpies had the whole black backs??

I dunno, I want some Anconas badly

but my magpie is so pretty, she has little spots on her face that look like freckles.

I can't find any baby baby pictures of her, but here is Junna, I got her from Ideal in Feb. she was alittle over a week old in this pic I think

Cetawin - Were you able to request Golden Harlequins (as opposed to Silver), or is that just what they sent you? I didn't see any differentiation between them on the order form.

duckncover Congratulations! Sorry, I don't have any Magpie duckling pics, but here's my latest batch (6 Dark Campbells, 2 Dusky Dutch Hookbills, 1 White Runner, and 1 Buff Runner) from Sandhill Preservation Center - I got them on Thursday (picture was taken Friday morning) and they've already at least doubled in size!

We got 6 Khaki Campbells first of June from Ideal and got 8 packing peanuts. They all have survived and are doing well. The ducklings are twice the size of the packing peanuts (aka, future dinner) I wish they'd get going on the growing. I'm beginning to think they're bany roosters but they didn't seem any smaller than are hens were when we got them.
