I have a chick that started at about 6:00 AM......................It has been making progress and is more than half way around the egg. I can see it's little beak working, but seems to not be making headway through
the membrane now...................it pushes and pushes with no progress, like the membrane is elastic..............hate this...........
want to help but trying to follow the "don't open the lid rule". This is hard to watch and I am afraid it will not make it.
Temp....100.5 humidity 74.............one other chick hatched out of 24................
The time on my post is inaccrate. 5:04 pm now.
Should I leave it for awhile longer????????
Oh, and is pip the first little holw they make in the shell?
Thank You

If your chick is half way around the shell, dont worry he'll get out for sure, they kick and squirm pretty hard. And yes the pip, is the hole they make in the shell, but just because it pips, doesnt mean its ready to come out just yet...I just had a hatch today, all that pipped made it out of there shells, so far one took 14 hours from pip to break out.....I know, its hard, and I have had to sit on my hands as well, but they will get out....
