I'm getting some spitzhauben!!

Whoopeee!! I haven't actully seen them yet so if they are sickly or poor looking I won't bring them home but I actually found someone near me with some for sale.

The Appenzeller Spitzhauben has been my most favorite breed of chicken since I had one for years growing up. I showed her in 4-h for at least 3 years as a polish cross because we didn't know what she was. She came with a mixed batch of rare breed chicks. One year a judge finally told us what she was, and while not in the standard he gave me a purple ribbon because he said she was the best spitz he had ever seen

Mohawk was also our petting zoo hen since she was so tame and lived to be 10 years old. She was the coolest chicken ever.

Anyway, I'm very excited to see these chickens and hopefully bring a couple home. Now I have to figure out a quarantine area.......

Make sure they dont look like Polish because some folks pass them up as Spitzhaubens. If they got the polish heads, pass them up.
