Since a kid, I have always loved the sound of a rooster crowing. We have a neighbor and I love hearing his crow every morning. But my neighbor isn't that close. It never occurred to me that this could be a problem. After all, it is a sound that rings in happy memories from my childhood. Who couldn't love that sound?
This was our first night/morning with our rescued roosters. At 1:30, the least dominant of the two let out a rather week crow. This went on a few times then he settled down. I got a few jeers from my wife and oldest college boy. My son jumped out of bed thinking something was wrong with the bird, maybe a predator, and grabbed the 22 rifle and ran to his defense. Only to find the bird happy as a clam.
4:25, The dominant rooster went off with a perpetual "Eeerk-err-errooreerrr" that just won't stop. My son finally gets up to feed the rooster thinking this will shut him up. It does for 10 minutes. My wife and kid are making plans to eat my roosters. I've been reassuring them that their garage home is temporary. My son's bedroom is by the garage. To make things worse. I found this hilarious. I don't know who is in bigger trouble, me, or my roosters.
