So for my birth day they gave me a rooster . His previews owner used him for fighting, he isn't aggressive he is just really scared of everything. Every time I go to give him food he runs away, I have to leave the food on the ground and go inside my house for him to eat it. Will he ever trust me or is he always gonna be scared of me ?

I would keep him in the coop., and whenever you have free time go and sit with him. Read a book, check e-mails, whatever. Just let him observe you. Walking softly helps, too. Once he's got his head out of the clouds, you can try to feed him treats when you come. They don't always like being held, so I would avoid that for now.

I agree that you should sit out with him when ever you can so he gets use to you (i would suggest sitting on the ground so your not so tall and less threatening). Talk to him so he gets used to your voice. You can offer treats. Toss them to a point where he is comfortable to eat them in front of you. Then slowly reduce how far you throw the treats and hopefully eventually he will be willing to eat out of your hand and let you pet him. Its going to be slow road and you need to earn his trust. Just be patient and dont do too much too fast.

Please show a picture of him.

He is in the heavy part of molt which explain his not wanting to be handled. This evening take him off the roost to see how he feels paying particular attention of his breast muscle. He is holding his tail like a bird would that is not in top condition. That can be a function of molt as well as mine get a little off during heavy molt.

Can you set him up with a small pen? Then you can go through same process a cocker does to tame him.
