I'm New & Need Help

I'm a new chicken owner and need some help. I have been looking for a chicken that is Black and White Striped. I was told it was called a Dominique or something like that. I live in New Brunswick and I'm looking for a chicken breeder in my area. Please Help.

You want either Dominiques, which are pretty uncommon and have a rose comb, or Barred Rocks, which are quite common and have a regular ol' single comb. If that helps direct your search any

P.s. if you don't mind hatchery birds, your feedstore should be able to get Barred Rocks for you, or you could see if Jason Cain at www.performancepoultry.com is still taking orders (if you want a bunch of 'em and would pay to have them mailed).

If you want them from a private breeder, have you tried the CanadianChickenEggSwappers2 MSN group? Despite the name it is not just for selling eggs, people have chicks and grown birds too and you might be able to hook up with someone in NB

You can email me....I sell barred rock x white leghorns. The roo is a barred rock so the babies will most likely look like the barred rock. Mine have! And White leghorns are great layers of jumbo white eggs. So this mix give jumbo white and some lightly tinted eggs.

I do ship. They are $10.00 per dozen and $12.00 shipping priority.

I will have purebred barred rocks in the future.

Backyardfarmfamily - Your barred is sooo pretty!! I have three barred that are about 4 weeks old. I hope they grow to be as pretty as yours!! Right now they are kind of awkward looking!!

Nuggetsowner - thanks! We didn't think much of our barred rocks when they were chicks either but then all of a sudden they got really beautiful on us. I especially think she looks nice now that her comb is red and full.
