Just joined today. I have had my chickens since March and have 12 Red links. I see people are talking about deworming. Help me understand If this is something I should do and when do you do it?:)

Greetings from Kansas and welcome to BYC! Great to have you aboard! Some people deworming on a regular schedule. Some never deworm. As a member of the "I do not deworm" club, I will defer to others about whether or not they think you should. Good luck and best wishes! :)

Welcome to BYC! It's great to have you.

I personally don't follow a worming schedule, but I will worm if I see worms or very obvious symptoms of worms. I use Wazine for roundworms, and Praziquantel for just about anything else (usually tapeworms).

I don't think there is a need to worm unless you have seen worms passed out, or have a fecal test prove positive for whatever kind of worm. Some people think anytime their birds are a little 'off' they need worming. But, if they are having health issues, worming (when they don't have worms) may weaken them further.
