got this 2 month old chick that lays down most of the time and has her eyes closed most of the time. I have to go out everyday and feed her water but she can't eat due to her closed eyes. When she does open them they are wet and red. Her poops are short long brown in a pile when she gets up from laying down. Also got another 2 month chick who's left eye is swollen shut. Any idea for them?:(

Do you have pictures? It sounds like they may have a respiratory disease, such as MG. Is there any runny poops or blood, since chicks this age may get coccidiosis? Have you had any older birds in your flock sneezing or with similar symptoms? These chicks need to be fed and watered several times a day since they are sick. Are they sneezing? Do you see any bubbles in the eyes or any nasal drainage? Clean the eyes with a clean cloth and get any drainage or pus out. Then apply a small dot of plain Neosporin ointment into the eyes. Offer water and some wet chick feed up to their beaks often. They may need a little extra warmth since they are sick and cannot keep themselves warm.

no runny poop or blood, no sneezing with older birds in flock since she was hatched with 8 other chicks so i keep them in the same flock. No she is not sneezing, no nasal drainage. Yes tiny bubbles in her wet red eyes i had to force them open. I seperated her from the flock and put her somewhere with warmth. A red heat lamp would be too hot so I found a yellow one that was fine. I'll try to get some pictures soon

What breed is she? I would clean her eyes twice a day with a clean cloth and put some plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment into the eyes twice a day. Terramycin eye ointment is also available at many feed stores. Do you think they could have been pecked in the eyes by other birds? That is what it could be if she is not sneezing or congested. Usually young birds are kept separate with fencing or in a pen until they are the same size.

Looks like photos I’ve seen of MG.

she is a chick of a mother old english white bantam with thee same breed rooster although the hen sometimes got mated by a serama rooster

I been using vetericyn but no progress so I thought I'll come and ask here going out to buy the Neosporin ointment

any idea how I can clean her eye with a clean cloth? She keeps her eye shut least I think it's a she might be a rooster anyway she keeps her eyes closed and shakes when i try to force them open. I'm not able to get them open for 1 second but when they are they are red and very very wet. She drinks a lot but not so much for eating since she cant see the food but she's adapted to the feeling of the water bowl and drinks out of it. One eye is open most of the the time the other mostly closed. The open eye is red and wet for both. Any ideas?
