Ive come down with a soar throat and stuffy nose, does this mean I need to stop holding my duckling immediately? He usually sleeps with me and cuddles with me during the day.

It should be fine. We can't pass our human cold/flu viruses to birds.

Actually we totally can the most notable of which being the deadly bird flu

Interesting question. Most things are not passed between people and ducks, but as Amykins points out, there are a few that can be.

But the way for you to find out what you have would involve you getting tested for what is making you sick. If it's a runny nose and sore throat, with no aches, chills or fever, it is most likely a cold, and I doubt you can give it to the little.

You may need to go with your instincts on this one. How long have you been ill?

my throat has gotten a little better though.

I am just thinking out loud - but if it is viral, it's probably something that is everywhere anyway. The best thing for both of you is for you to wash your hands and face often, and do what you can to keep both immune systems strong - proper diet, enough rest, fresh water, vitamins.
