Ok ive had chooks 2 now for about 4months and they have been no problem what so ever, they when to there beds at night and live in there big run most of the time and when im out i let them free range. They have food, water and grip in there coop and seem like they are happy. The thing that im worried about is that both chickens are almost 30weeks old and still no layed an egg! They are both mix bread chooks could this have something to do with it? Also the last 3 nights they have refused to go into there coop resulting in me puting them into threre coop. could this have something to do with it getting darker faster at night? or could it be dreaded red mites? I read up a bit last night on read mites and i read i should wipe under the perches with white paper when the choops were sleeping and if it was red mites the papper would have blood on it from the mites... well i wiped everywhere and there was no mites or blood. so now im really confused by this all...

Any advise is welcome.

Thanks

I can think of a few things that make this possible:

  • Breed is a late layer
  • Worms/mites/lice
  • All are roosters
Can you give us pictures showing us the breeds. Maybe the age is off?
