I'm so disappointed I could cry...UPDATE****

Vicki is right. After you have incubated an egg, the bulls eye is not longer present.

I really feel for you as I think most people who have tried to hatch shipped eggs will too. It is just one of those things and most of the time infertility isn't the case especially if you see good development in quite a few of the eggs. The trip the eggs have taken in the mail coupled with weather conditions will also play a HUGE roll in the eggs developing or not.

I can't tell you how much money I've spent on Bantam Salmon Favorelle eggs only to end up with 2 cockerels hatching each time. It's very discouraging, but the chance I'm taking in hatching shipped eggs. I've started another hatch to see if I can try one more time to get some of these prized little birds. I really am hoping and praying I get a pullet or two this time around!

Lots of good hatching vibes coming your way! I hope you get the fluffy buts you are wanting.

Well, I don't think either of the BLRW are going to hatch. They were due yesterday and so far, nothing. No pip, no rocking, no nothing.

But, earlier today a little Black Frizzled Cochin hatched out, and about an hour ago, a Black Mottled d'Uccle hatched out. So that makes 4 chicks that have hatched, though 2 were from my own eggs. The Seramas aren't rocking anymore, and I don't know what that means at this point. Officially, those eggs weren't suppose to hatch til tomorrow, so I'll give them til Tuesday. My two little Marans mixes that hatched are doing great. They are fluffy and healthy, and quite inquisitive. I put them in their own brooder last night, and now I'm waiting for the Cochin and the d'Uccle to dry off, and I'll move them tomorrow or so. Humidity is high enough that I can move quickly and pull the dry chicks. I'm disappointed in this whole hatch. My kids have been gathering our own eggs and we plan to incubate them when this hatch is done. Then the bators both go in the closet for awhile. My goose eggs went on lockdown today, and I'm hoping and praying that a could of those hatch. Man it take forever to incubate those! Funny how of all the chicks that hatched this time, all of them were black, yet they are all different breeds. Ironic I think. I'll post again if anything else hatches today or tomorrow. I am really hoping some of those Seramas hatch, I really, really want some! Back to waiting again...

We've been watching the eggs all evening, and about 2 hours ago we noticed a pip in the other d'Uccle egg. Well, that little guy zipped shortly after he pipped, and he's already out!

There is a pip in another egg that I think my daughter slipped in there, so it's one of ours, and it's a Silkie egg (probably mixed since it's my Cochin roos that are mounting the Silkie girls), and I see a pip in the only Mottle Cochin egg in there as well as one of my Cinnamon Reds.

My daughter thought she saw a pip in one of the Lavender Cochin eggs, and I really hope she's right. She also thinks she might have seen a pip in one of the Serama eggs. I guess we'll just wait and see. I hope I have lots more chicks by morning. So far, hatch count is 5.

I am experiencing the same thing with polish. Out of 36 purchased eggs, one hatched, and it was glued in the egg. BUT!!!! Elmer is alive and well, and really is an Elmira, but the name isn't changing.

It sounds like your hatch was delayed a bit so maybe you will get more than you thought you were going to end up with!

Anymore this morning?

I understand your frustration. I have hatched enough of shipped eggs to know that there are many reasons why some don't hatch.

You are right that some sellers are not honest and don't ship eggs that are all fertile, but some eggs just don't ship well.

Best to buy from BYC'rs and even then look and read their feedback.

Also, some people blame the sellers when it is the incubation techniques of the buyer who are at fault. No offense meant here. I know this to be true because when I was new I couldn't get good hatchs. Eventually I found what worked for me but those early days cost me alot of money!
