im thinking about starting a contest...

EE lover:) :

sure.

So would i collect the eggs and ship them? How lomg will they remain fertile? Do they "die" if not shipped right away?

No, they stay viable for about a week, stored small point down in an egg carton at room temperature. So...whats the contest.......?????

hatching eggs can be stored for 10 days to 2 weeks before the hatch rate goes down a lot. The should be turned once daily and stored in a cool room (the fridge is too cold)

turned? like start the egg with pointy side up, and then flip it? What if the hen leaves the egg and doesnt sit on it? even if it gets cold?

No, store then pointy end down and lean then slighty to one side one day and the other way the next day. Never turn them pointy end up if you want to hatch them, the airsacs get all wonky. The hen doesnt need to sit on it right away, in the wild a bird doesnt sit on their eggs until she has a whole clutch, that way they all hatch at the same time. As long as the eggs are stored in your house they will be fine
