If you are wanting show quality birds, you should buy from a breeder rather than a hatchery. However, if you are just wanting some good, productive birds that breed true to the breed type, I would recommend Dunlap Hatchery in Caldwell, Idaho, which is a smaller, family run hatchery. I've ordered chicks from them on several occasions (including Black Australorps and Buff Orpingtons, they also sell SL Wyandottes although I've not personally ordered them from Dunlap) and have been very happy with their service and birds. The folks at Dunlap are very friendly and helpful and I've never lost a chick in shipping (the only one of four hatcheries that I have ordered from that I can say that about). You have made some excellent choices in breeds, and wherever you end up purchasing them from, good luck with your flock.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Those are some great breeds to keep! Very docile, friendly and great on the laying. Hatchery birds are generally not up to the same standards as privately bred birds, especially those of heritage blood lines. If you want to keep some real quality birds, definitely purchase your birds from a known quality breeder that you know will sell you birds from good stock.

I'm from England and I'm buying them from the auction
